SATELLITE AEROSOL RETRIEVALS BY TEMPO, EPIC AND TROPOMI OVER NORTH AMERICA: PRELIMINARY RESULTS
Retrieval results from the NASA near-UV aerosol algorithm applied to the IntelSat40-TEMPO, DSCOVR-EPIC, and S5P-TROPOMI sensors observations from distinct orbital configurations (GEO, L1, and LEO respectively) over the area of regard of the TEMPO sensor will be inter-compared. The aerosol inversion algorithm uses Oxygen-B band observations at 680 and 688 nm to derive an effective aerosol layer height (ALH) to characterize the aerosol load vertical distribution as a single layer. The ALH information derived is then fed to a two-channel (354 and 388 nm) inversion algorithm to retrieve near-UV AOD and SSA. The inter-consistency of the multi-platform aerosol product, and their accuracy in relation to independent ground-based AERONET observations will be examined.
